I disagree and I think you have gone too far critisizing that guy.
First of all, in 8888 no one except
the armed forces have guns and bullets only came out of gunes. So his claim was not excessive at all. Afterall, I have seen a 10 years old kid in lower Pazondaung township who was hit by a stray bullet bounced back after hitting the Nylon coated road, that kid was sleeping inside his room, on his bed and he was hit by a bullet shot from the soldiers of his own country. Had the army officers commanded according to the rules of engagement, then they have to use loud speakers, warning shoots above the crowd, then sharp shooting the leaders but apparently our own soldiers were ordered to shoot that way, a strayed bullet and a broken dream.

But you are right that there is not pure ethnic battalions or regiments (old battalions) as all become mixed and mingled. So I think that chap was right. Again, even if there were Chin soldiers who shot Burman protesters, we Burmese will never blame on Chin or any other ethnic betherens as as soldiers they are there to obey order. It is officers who has to have brains where to shoot and whom to shoot. While top officers, i.e. generals are using the army as if they inherit from their step father, that is the root cause. My parents told me that Chin solders might have do shoting in U Thant uprising but I never lost inspiration for Chin soldiers. If a soldier think twice to shoot when the order come then it is not a well trained soldier anymore, but officers must have brains, they have to think and they have to know what to fight and where to point the guns.
I disagree and I think you have gone too far critisizing that guy.
First of all, in 8888 no one except
the armed forces have guns and bullets only came out of gunes. So his claim was not excessive at all. Afterall, I have seen a 10 years old kid in lower Pazondaung township who was hit by a strayed bullet bounced back after hitting the Nylon coated road, that kid was sleeping inside his room, on his bed and he was hit by a bullet shot from the soldiers of his own country. Had the army officers commanded according to the rules of engagement, then they have to use loud speakers, warning shoots above the crowd, then sharp shooting the leaders but apparently our own soldiers were not ordered to shoot that way, they might have fire at will and a strayed bullet and a broken dream.
